DNA - you hear about it in the news, you see diagrams and illustrations of it, everyone is talking about it related to health, medicine, your personality and your family.
But what actually is DNA, how do we know anything about it, and why does everyone make such a fuss about it?

Join us in the first whizz-bang Barcelona Fun Science Meetup of 2017 to discover the answers to these questions through experiment and play. We'll be extracting our own DNA, building really cool models, learning what 'deoxyribose nucleic acid' actually means, and talking about the history of DNA research and how we found out what we know now about DNA.

¿Pero qué ES realmente el ADN y cómo se conoce esta información? ¿Por qué todo el mundo hace tanto alboroto acerca del ADN?
Acompáñanos en este primer y gran Barcelona Fun Science Meetup del 2017 y descubriremos las respuestas a nuestras preguntas a través de experimentos y juegos. Extraeremos nuestro propio ADN, haremos modelos muy guay y aprenderemos qué significa realmente "Ácido desoxirribonucleico". También conversaremos sobre la historia de la investigación del ADN y cómo se llegó a las conclusiones actuales.

Who are we?
We're a friendly bunch of adults who are curious about the weird and wonderful science of the things we see every day. In every session we set a theme, and then explore a couple of different hands-on activities and games together to learn about what?, how? and why? things work the way that they do.
We come from all different educational and professional backgrounds, and you don't need any previous science experience to come along, play, and meet new people.

I'm a board-game loving science geek (and freelance project manager in healthcare communications) from London. I started Barcelona Fun Science to create new ways for curious non-scientific adults to explore scientific ideas, and to feel confident asking questions about how the world around them works in an informal, social and fun environment.
