Java in the Cloud: Tuning for Performance with Testcontainers and AWS

Detalles
Hi JUGgers!
Spring is the most important framework in the JVM ecosystem. Thousands of companies have been using it for many years. Despite the competitors that keep appearing, nothing seems to threaten its dominance, which continues to grow daily.
Spring has survived the monolith, the microservice, and has adapted perfectly to the Cloud world. Also to the Cloud Native, to performance, and to the countless challenges that have emerged.
During the month of May, the Spring IO is held in Barcelona. It is the monographic Spring conference and brings together 1200 people.
As a precursor to SpringIO our community is organising, together with Adevinta, an evening session on the 17th. AtomicJar and AWS will present on Testcontainers and Java for cloud-native 🙂
Thanks to Adevinta, who will be hosting the event and will provide their offices, food 🍇 and beverage 🧃 for having a great networking time 😉
Hope to see you all next 17th!
1. Testcontainers for Integration Testing and Local Development,
We will explore the new features of Spring Boot 3.1, which brings improved built-in support for using Testcontainers for Integration Testing. In addition we will see how we can utilise it for providing a better local development experience, that allows us to replace more traditional approaches such as using Docker Compose.
Aleix Morgadas is head of Engineering at AtomicJar, the company supporting and developing Testcontainers and Testcontainers Cloud. He has been developing distributed applications until he decided to continue his career as a handson manager.
Eddú Meléndez is Software Engineer at AtomicJar, working on Testcontainers. Contributor in the Spring ecosystem since 2015 and other open source projects. During his free time, he loves to research about new trends and contribute to open source projects.
2. Java for cloud-native applications
In this session we are going to elaborate about Java on AWS; talk about Corretto, cover migration and modernisation paths for Java on the cloud, and discuss optimising Java for cloud-native applications (serverless)
Kevin Azijn is a Senior Solutions Architect and Team Lead at Amazon Web Services (AWS), working for the Public Sector in Benelux. He started as a Java Developer more than 15 years ago, rolled into mobile development, DevOps and managing teams before joining AWS in 2019.
