Dear Book Enthusiasts,

For our April gathering, we’ll be reading Satantango by the Hungarian writer László Krasznahorkai.

First published in 1985, this haunting and hypnotic novel unfolds in a decaying Hungarian village after the fall of a collective farm. As rumors spread that the long-absent Irimiás has returned, the remaining residents are drawn into a slow-moving dance of hope, manipulation, despair, and illusion. Satantango explores the fragility of belief, the psychology of communities in decline, and the uneasy space between redemption and deception.

📅 Date & Time: 12.04.2026 at 15:00
📍 Location: Audrey coffee, Holzendorffstraße 18, 14057 Berlin

I’m very much looking forward to discussing this darkly atmospheric and philosophically rich novel with you — and to sharing another thoughtful afternoon together.

Warmly,
Sofya
