Can Tonal is part of a broader pioneer project to rebuild the commons in the rural areas near Barcelona. The Vallbona Suport Mutu community has +20 active members and enjoys services such as car sharing, parenting group with a school in the forest, veggie garden, collective pantry, artisan bread and cheese, and craft beer. Can Tonal, which is part of the community, is a about the collective purchase of an old, crumbling, stonewall farm and restoring it into a social center. The aim is to promote a community in the area that shares resources and a gift economy where members help each other (rather than trading). Also to use shared resources to empower the members of the community so that they can effect a social and ecological change in the area.
On the collective work day we will do construction and farming work in the morning and then have a delicious lunch. There is always work to do that doesn't require particular skills or much physical strength like painting, removing grass, or helping at the kitchen. You can check the pictures in previous meetups of this same group :)
Afternoon: Talk by a reporter from Guinea. Night: concert trance/folk. Participants are welcome to bring sleeping bags and mats to stay overnight, and also camping tents if they wish, there is a shelter where to sleep as well.
We can get there with train and then bike, or walk or hitch-hike to the farm. If you are coming by car please mention it on the event discussion area.
For the train trip the meeting point is at Passeig de Gràcia train station. We'll meet inside the station, next to the ticket machines in front of the ticket booth. We'll meet at 8:45 and take the train at 9:05. There is only one train per hour though, so please be on time. It's better to arrive early at the farm, when the different tasks are explained and working groups are formed to better enjoy the morning.
