This Meetup is open to anyone interested in trends and careers in cybersecurity. Our regular events offer networking, exchanging of ideas and information, Capture the Flags (cybersecurity hackathons) and interviews with "Cyber Heroes" (regional experts in the security domain who provide topical industry insights). Whether you are a cybersecurity professional or a leader who cares about advancing cybersecurity in your organization, please join us.

Capture the Flag: Cybersecurity Hackathon! Who says you can’t hack for sport? Our CTF events are the perfect chance for you to flex those hacking muscles and even grow some new ones. This exciting event is for all cyber-skill levels so come out and enjoy the fun! Agenda: 5:30PM-6:00PM | Beginner’s intro to CTF 6:00PM-9:30PM | CTF What to bring: + Linux or some other *nix system that they prefer. It can be a VM or bare metal system. + Ability to access[masked]n (2.4 GHz) wireless or if desired, the ability to connect to ethernet. + Most levels can be done with an SSH client and a web browser. Career Convo: Pentesters - What Do They Do?

Cybersecurity Career Convos: Ejas Rizvi and Ariel Montano Cardenas Ejas Rizvi: Ejas Rizvi works as a senior Penetration tester at BAE Systems. Ejas graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering in 2013, and transitioned into the realm of Cybersecurity shortly after. He also has a Master’s degree in Cybersecurity and several industry certifications including the OSCP, GPEN, GCIH and CISSP. He spends his time researching vulnerabilities and performing application/network penetration tests. He actively works with system/application owners and defenders to devise solutions to remediate and/or mitigate discovered vulnerabilities. Ariel Montano Cardenas: Ariel Montano Cardenas is a contractor, working as a penetration tester for the US government. Having a background in system administration, Ariel decided to transition his career into the world of Cybersecurity back in 2013. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, a Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, and has earned his OSCP certification from Offensive Security in 2016. He currently spends his time finding and exploiting vulnerabilities, bypassing security tools, assisting in security incidents, and emulating cyber threats during red team exercises.
