The billion dollars Kubernetes operator bug
During the first half of 2022, there was a Kubernetes operator bug running in the ODP clusters. A bug in it and the siloed AWS organization provoked an outstanding invoice for our running services. This talk will show how blindly following some guidelines on top of an automated system can quickly increase your bill.
What's behind the cloud? An insight to the Zaragoza AWS region
Since 15 Nov, AWS eu-south-2 region is open. Based in the Zaragoza area, provides services for customers in the Iberian Peninsula such as Glovo, Idealista or BBVA. In this talk you can learn more about our local region, how a datacenter works and what makes AWS datacenters different.

Elena Menendez - Data Center Logistics Manager @ AWS
Elena is the Logistics Cluster Manager for the AWS Data Centers and Transit Sites in Spain. Her team runs all the logistics operations for the data centers, from transport to inventory management, and site support. Previously she has worked in the energy, mining and fashion industries, focusing in processes and Supply Chain operations.
Dani Baeyens - Senior Platform Engineer @ adidas
Daniel is Senior Platform Engineer at adidas, working on the Container Orchestration team. This team run and automate operations for all adidas Kubernetes clusters globally and work along with more than 70 teams and 800 engineers to successfully migrate their applications to the platform. Previously, he was part of the adidas mobile app team, successfully rolling out the app in more than 20 countries in less than 12 months. He loves digging into troubleshooting and solving performance issues. He has collaborated actively in different Open Source communities since 2001.
