We are happy to announce that May's Golang Meetup is ready to Go!

Save the date: Monday the 28th at 7pm at Skyscanner offices, located at Plaça Catalunya, 1, 5th floor, module C.

We will have two talks:

  1. Searching Go code with static analysis - Daniel Martí

"Code search is a well researched topic, but there is a different solution to each need. In practice, most developers rely on plaintext tools like grep.

This talk will introduce code search tailored for Go using syntax trees. Such a method allows us to write complex queries to find patterns in Go code, which can be useful for linting and rewriting code, among many other purposes."

Daniel Martí (https://mvdan.cc/) is a young but very proficient Go developer who works in fintech. He is a Go commiter https://go-review.googlesource.com/q/owner:mvdan@mvdan.cc() and creates useful tools to improve Go code (https://github.com/mvdan).

  1. Interoperating with Golang in a polyglot stack (beyond the microservices hype) - Ronny López

"Depending on your applications needs, the typical service mesh architecture for inter-service communication are not ever likely to be the answer to all your development and delivery problems.

As always, there are pros and cons, and sometimes ad-hoc solutions could be a better fit.

In this talk will be shared some practical approaches that can be used when you have to run code in multiple languages and stacks. Also typical mistakes to avoid and some learnings from running production services."

Ronny López (https://twitter.com/ronnylt) is the head of backend at Social Point, a well-know Go workshop here in Barcelona. He's been architecting and programming in Go for some years to build soft real-time features for games.
