If you are staying in Madrid during summertime, attending a summer night concert at the Complutense University Botanic Gardens is a must!

Let's have some refreshments and get to know each other by the idyllic creek watching the ducklings go by. Once freshened up, we'll show our moves in front of these 2 giant female performers of flamenco-pop fusion and jazz-bolero-bossa nova scenes:

María Peláe
Tradition, modernity, festivity and cheek. All in the same person. Nothing scares the Malaga native. Neither competing in ‘Tu cara me suena’ nor performing at the Benidorm Fest. Nor mixing flamenco with electronic pop or melodic songs. She has given a good account of them in his three albums: ‘Hipocondría’ (2017), ‘La folcrónica’ (2022) or ‘Al baño María’ (2023), the latter with collaborations with Pastora Soler, Vanesa Martín, Las Niñas or NIA. Not to mention the thematic album ‘Navidad flamenca a lo Peláe’ (2024) and, of course, her brand new and iconoclastic work, ‘El evangelio’ (2025).

Rita Payés
The Catalan Rita Payés gave us with ‘Como la piel’ (2021) an intoxicating treatise of jazz, bolero and bossa nova, conveyed in Spanish, Catalan and Portuguese. A trombonist gifted in jazz, she has ended up demonstrating that her range of interests is much broader, and that the praise she received from C. Tangana (he confessed that her music influenced him to compose ‘Comerte entera’) were more than justified. His latest album, ‘De Camino al Camino’ (2024), is his first release made up exclusively of his own compositions, an amalgam of styles and personal influences.
