This Grafana & Friends meetup group hosts events centered on open source monitoring and observability with Grafana and complementary technologies. Some events feature presentations, while some are more laid back and meant to foster group discussion. Either way, there will be snacks and stickers!

19:15: 🎙️ "What is Memberlist? Using a gossiped KV Store for Grafana Mimir’s HA Tracker" Nikos Angelopoulos - Senior Site Reliability Engineer en Grafana Labs (charla en inglés 🇬🇧)
Memberlist is a Go library that implements a gossip-based protocol for cluster membership and messaging. It provides a lightweight way for nodes to discover each other, detect failures, and exchange state — all without relying on an external coordination service like etcd or Consul.
In this talk, we’ll explore how Memberlist works under the hood: its gossip protocol, failure detection and message propagation. Then, we’ll look at a real-world use case: Grafana’s HA Tracker. Originally dependent on etcd, the HA Tracker was migrated to a key-value store backed by Memberlist to remove external dependencies and simplify operations.
