Social Deep Work Session - 2h

TLDR
We meet at public places to work and build things.
It can be art, building a company or just some deep research on a topic you're been curious about lately.
You can make it social and include other people in your work, or just go solo.

The goal is to provide a free space where you can allocate some time to your personal projects and also meet likeminded individuals in the meantime.

Plan
The plan is:

1. gathering up at a public place
2. quick briefing where everybody shares:
   - what they will be working on
   - their availability to mentor
3. deep work session
4. free social time afterwards

Mentor? What do you mean?
If you have a light workload or not a particularly strict schedule that day, you may allow people to be your mentees and shadow you while you do your work.

So for example if during briefing you say that “I need to do some 3d modeling on Blender for my project and I can mentor”, you may have people joining you, watching you work and ask questions about your workflow.

This is a great opportunity for the mentees to expand their skillset and to see how things are done in a domain that may be out of their usual workflow.
It is also an opportunity for mentors to rubber duck their work, receive fresh external feedback and even double check for knowledge gaps in their workflow.

Why are we doing this?
Building something valuable requires a ton of time and focused effort, which often results in social isolation.

We just want to provide an alternative for driven people that see the value in having a social layer around their hard work sessions.

Personally, I found that working with people makes me:

• work longer and harder
• give me enough social exposure so I can build relationships and be social while still doing what I love (and I don’t need to allocate time to go to “social places” just to compensate by alone work hours)

Nos reunimos en lugares públicos para trabajar y crear cosas.

Puede ser arte, construir una empresa o simplemente investigar a fondo un tema que te haya despertado curiosidad últimamente.

Puedes hacerlo de forma social e incluir a otras personas en tu trabajo, o simplemente hacerlo solo.

El objetivo es ofrecer un espacio libre donde puedas dedicar tiempo a tus proyectos personales y, al mismo tiempo, conocer a personas con intereses similares.

Plan
El plan es:

1. Reunirse en un lugar público
2. Breve introducción donde cada uno comparte:
   - En qué estarán trabajando
   - Su disponibilidad para mentorear
3. Sesión de deep work
4. Tiempo libre para socializar después

Mentor? Qué significa eso?
Si tienes una carga de trabajo ligera o un horario no demasiado estricto ese día, puedes permitir que otras personas sean tus aprendices y te observen mientras trabajas.

Por ejemplo, si durante la introducción dices: “Necesito hacer modelado 3D en Blender para mi proyecto y puedo mentorear”, puedes tener personas que se unan a ti, te observen trabajar y hagan preguntas sobre tu flujo de trabajo.

Esta es una gran oportunidad para que los aprendices amplíen sus habilidades y vean cómo se hacen las cosas en un dominio que puede estar fuera de su flujo de trabajo habitual.

También es una oportunidad para que los mentores hagan rubber ducking, reciban feedback externo e incluso revisen posibles vacíos de conocimiento en su flujo de trabajo.

¿Por qué hacemos esto?
Crear algo valioso requiere una gran cantidad de tiempo y esfuerzo enfocado, lo que a menudo resulta en aislamiento social.

Solo queremos ofrecer una alternativa para personas motivadas que vean el valor de tener una capa social alrededor de sus sesiones de trabajo intenso.

Personalmente, he descubierto que trabajar con personas me hace:
• Trabajar más tiempo y con más intensidad
• Recibir suficiente exposición social para construir relaciones y ser sociable mientras hago lo que amo (y no necesito destinar tiempo para ir a “lugares sociales” solo para compensar las horas de trabajo en solitario)
