Hi, all Independent Movie Lovers.
You are invited meet at 7 pm, on Friday the 20th of February. This meeting is at the Café on the ground floor of the Light House Cinema, Smithfield Square, Dublin.
We will discuss the film:
My Father's Shadow (2025), directed by Akinola Davies. My Father's Shadow is set in 1993, and examines a family's struggles in Lagos.
We will also discuss:
Apocalypse Now (1979), directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Several versions are in circulation. It seems the Apple TV and Sky Store are showing the 147 minute cut that was essentially the original theatrical release. I think Coppola's 2019 'Final Cut' is available for rental from YouTube, and this would be the preferred cut for discussion.
We will watch the movies independently, and meet for discussion on Friday the 20th of February, at 7 pm, at the Café on the ground floor of the Light House Cinema, Smithfield Square.
My Father's Shadow is showing at some Dublin cinemas, including Cineworld in Parnell St, the Light House Cinema at Smithfield, and the IFI, Eustace St, until Thursday the 12th of February.
Apocalypse Now, the 'final cut' is available for online rental on YouTube. Other versions are available for rental from Apple TV and Sky Store.
