The vanguard of the new British jazz scene would be incomprehensible without the essential contribution of Alfa Mist, a craftsman of cinematic atmospheres who blends materials from soul, hip hop, and free jazz.

There is an urban melancholy in everything touched by Alfa Sekitoleko, the London-based pianist, composer, and producer Alfa Mist, who grew up admiring the work of Miles Davis and Hans Zimmer, but also that of J Dilla and Madlib, whom he sampled in his early days.

It is a sensation he knows how to inoculate through the cadences of soul, jazz, and instrumental hip hop, and which is reflected in each and every one of his seven studio albums.
