Outdoor volunteer opportunity:
Calling all green thumbs! And anyone who wants to get outdoors this spring while making new friends as well as an impact on local food security.

The Sunflower Fields community garden in northern Harrisburg provides residents in an affordable housing community with a garden plot to grow their own food and flowers. The garden is managed by the non-profit Tri County Community Action, which has been helping people and changing lives throughout Cumberland, Dauphin, and Perry Counties for over 50 years. Their aim is to to build community and make our region an even better place to live.

But they can't do it all on their own. That's where we come in. A gardener will be on-site to direct and assist weekend volunteers. Some possible activities include planting, weeding, mulching, and watering.

Please bring work gloves, sunscreen, and bug spray. Guests are welcome to come garden with us too. In case of bad weather (like thunderstorms), the rain date will be 5/30/26.
