Apr 2, 9 AM ~ Pony Pasture Loop
Detalles
We will meet near the recycle bins located at the end of the Stratford Hills Shopping Center away from Forest Hill Avenue for this three mile hike. We will stroll through the surrounding neighborhood to the James River Park.
After entering the James River Park we'll make a loop around the mixed variety forest that was a Pony Pasture as recently as the early 1960's. We'll take a small break before following Pleasant Creek back to our exit point from the park. This will be a hike of approximately three miles over relatively uncomplicated terrain. Some ability to negotiate tree roots, rustic trails, low hanging vines, toxic plants (in season), reptiles, damp trail conditions, spider webs, fallen trees, scorpions, birds of prey, migratory waterfowl, and river rocks is desirable.
This hike will begin at the posted time, not five or ten minutes later. If you are unfamiliar with the meet up location, add a few minutes to your travel schedule so you can find us. If you need help on directions, click on the inset map located under "How to find us" in the event description. A larger interactive map will be displayed. When you select "Directions" (left) the best route from your location to the Meet Up rendezvous spot will be calculated. Before the hike be sure to place anything that might invite theft in your trunk before you leave your car parked while you are hiking.
