PEER TALKS @ MADRID AI – (Talks given in Spanish)
I. Javier García Sogo / Quant Developer @BBVA & co-founder of Lingẅars – THERE WON'T BE NLP WITHOUT LINGUISTS.

The current power of calculation and access to huge amounts of data has led to an unprecedented advance in the field of Natural Language Processing based mainly on statistics. However, we have touched a ceiling that we can only overcome with the participation of philologists and linguists in this field, we need to incorporate tools and theoretical approaches that allow us to make a qualitative leap in the understanding of language and the way of working with it.

II. Cristina Santamarina / Bots Specialist @The Neon Project – BOTS 103.

Almost all major brands have experimented with chatbots, but only few of them did so successfully. In some cases the failure of the projects had to do with the expectations of the users in terms of the capabilities of the bots. Cinema and literature nurtured user's minds, raising the expectations to levels where the bots would be able to respond with empathy and who are making advances in AI and NLP. The main question is, where are we now?

III. Nieves Ábalos & Carlos Muñoz Romero @Monoceros – THE CHALLENGE OF PERSONALITY AND EMOTIONS IN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE.

There are a number of challenges in the area of conversational interfaces, and although chatbots and voice assistants are pervasive in everyday's life there are a number of elements beyond the understanding capabilities of these devices that should be researched. This talk will present the challenge on the venues and advances in the field towards providing emotional intelligence and personality to conversational systems, also exploring the benefits that it would bring.
