🗣️Presentation #2: Managing alerting workflow with dbt
Description: Managing the alerting workflow is no easy task as you scale. On one side you want to know about issues as they happen but at the same time you don’t want to end up flooded with data alerts that don’t get actioned. When data teams don’t find the right balance and end up having too many alerts that are unaddressed it can lead to negative consequences such as
- Important issues get overlooked
- Triaging and monitoring alerts become a time sink
- The data team loses confidence in the impact of writing tests
In this talk Mikkel will dive into what a better alerting flow looks like and give go through how you can get use metadata from the dbt manifest.json to bring in ownership, root cause and importance to your alerts.
Speaker bio:
Mikkel is the co-founder of Synq. Prior to Synq, he was leading data teams at the UK challenger bank Monzo seeing the team scale to 100 people and thousands of data models. He frequently writes about all things data at https://mikkeldengsoe.substack.com/
