rkt and the App Container Spec

Continuing with our container marathon Iago López Galeiras (https://github.com/iaguis), part of the rkt team, will talk about rkt and the App Container Spec. Here is a summary

rkt is a simple daemon-free tool that enables users to run

containerized apps on their systems free of host dependencies.

Containers running under rkt execute like regular processes and can be

managed using existing process management tools like upstart, systemd,

runit, and etc.

rkt is also an implementation of the "App Container Spec" which

defines how to define and build containerized applications based on

tooling like tar and pgp. And then host these files easily using

standard protocols like HTTP. The goal of the spec is to enable

independent and creative implementations of container runtimes and

build tools.

Both of these projects are open source and part of a young growing

community. Come learn how they work and how you can get involved.

The talk could be held in English or Spanish.

Rkt es una herramienta sin un daemon asociado que permite a los usuarios ejecutar aplicaciones en contenedores libre de dependencias.

Contenedores ejecutandose bajo rkt corren como procesos regulares y pueden ser gestionadas utilizando herramientas de gestión de procesos como upstart, systemd, runit, etc.

rkt es además una implementación de la

"App Container Spec" la cual describe como definir y construir aplicaciones que puedan correr en contenedores, basado en herramientas como tar y PGP. Y distribuir esos ficheros facilmente usando protocolos como HTTP. El objetivo de la especificación es habilitar implementaciones creativas e independientes de container runtimes y las herramientas para construirlos.

Ambos projectos son open source parte de una jovén y vibrante comunidad. Ven a aprender más de como funcionan y como participar.
