BIO: Johnny Miller
CTO and co-founder of digitalis.io and AxonOps, Johnny Miller, is an experienced hands-on developer, DevOps, architect and team leader. Johnny has extensive hands-on experience with architecting, building, deploying and managing distributed systems using technologies such as Apache Cassandra, where security, availability and scalability are business-critical.

Session 1: Introduction to Apache Cassandra for Developers
This talk will introduce developers to how to build applications using Apache Cassandra. This will be a technical talk explaining the architecture of Cassandra and then introduce attendees to CQL (Cassandra Query Language), Data Modeling, the driver configuration and the general ecosystem. Attendees should come away with a good understanding of what Apache Cassandra is and how to get started developing systems using it.
Duration 45 mins + 15 mins for questions.

Session 2: Now that you know what Apache Cassandra is, how do you look after it?
This second session of the evening will follow on from the first and discuss how to manage Apache Cassandra efficiently and effectively. We will look at various operational considerations when using Cassandra in production and introduce attendees to AxonOps, a complete operational tool that makes managing Apache Cassandra easy. Attendees will come away with a good understanding of what you should look at when running Apache Cassandra in production.
Duration 45 mins + 15 mins for questions.

As usual, after the talks we will also raffle some gifts among the attendees, have some drinks/snacks and networking!
