Málaga MeetUPs goes hiking San Antón

Detalles

Sun's out and the activities are back, this time we're leaving the city behind!!

Join us for our second Málaga Meetup Hike, before summer is baking our asses off. This time more challenging than last time hike, up into the wonderful San Anton, known for its twin mountain peaks and scenic views.

Let's meet around 10:45 at Club de Tenis Málaga (https://maps.app.goo.gl/UEPQYUzuYrChzQuf6) before heading out together into the San Antón hills. The tennis club has plenty of parking space, or for public transport options, the closest bus stop is Reina Fabiola - take Line 34 from Centro - and a 15 minute walk from there.

From there we'll be departing to the entrance of the Monte San Antón trails, which is a 40 minute hike by itself. The San Antón mountain trails are a moderate climb, a normal level of fitness will be fine, however the trails are steep and many parts are on steep rocks and/or loose gravel, being confident in your own footing is a must!! We will take it slow and steady up this part.

Whether you decide to take on both peaks (Go! Go!!) or not, the hike will return to the nearby scenic picnic spot.

After climbing up the peak (or both peaks, time permitting) we'll have a chance to take in the magnificent views around El Palo, Málaga and its wider surroundings. It will be down the hills again to find our picnic spot and take a nice refreshing break there. Don't forget your favourite snacks and beverages to replenish before we head back again.

From Mirador Oeste San Antón we'll loop back to the starting point (slightly different route), and decide to either have lunch at the Tennis club restaurant, or walk down to El Palo and pick one of its fab restaurants & bars there. This direction also has more public transport options (Line 34 from the Tennis club back to Malaga takes quite a detour).

Find your favourite hiking boots and come join us Saturday the 17th! As always, participation is completely free, but also fully at your own risk.
Please ensure you feel fit and kit yourself out to allow you to make those climbs. If unsure, I will provide you the route details on request beforehand.
