First Barcelona Reading Party: come & read together!

Are you a book hoarder? Do you struggle to find time to finish that novel that you started reading LAST year? Can't focus? Are small children roaming around the house? Too much work? We feel you!

Come enjoy some quality time with a book of your choice in the company of complete strangers in the basement! Yeah, we know how it sounds 😆 But bear with us, it gonna be fun!

This concept is called a Reading Party (featured in NY Times, have a look).
The idea is brilliant in its simplicity: guests read silently for an hour and chat with strangers about the books they brought afterward. It's NOT a book club where people read the same book and then discuss it. Everyone bring their own books, those that have been collecting dust on the shelf. Now it's their time to party!

We invite you to our first Reading Party in Barcelona at the brand-new English bookstore – the beautiful BackStory. We will have the whole quiet, nicely lit lounge at the -1 floor for ourselves. Bring your book, or get a new one at the store. Bring a friend! Put that phone on mute. Enjoy reading.

Timeline of the party:

📕 17-00 Arrival

I strongly recommend arriving by 17-00 to enjoy the beautiful, brand-new English bookstore. Meet other participants, browse the bookshelves packed with carefully selected gems, inhale the best aroma on Earth –books & fresh coffee (by News&Coffee guys), and maybe pick a new novel for your reading session. Also, if you come by 5 pm you can grab the best reading spot – just saying :)

👓 17-30 - 18-30 Reading time!

Starting from 17-30, we will be reading in quiet on the -1 floor of the bookstore for 1 hour. If you come a bit later, just pick a free spot and join us in this process.

📚 18-30 - 19-00 Chatting about the books we are reading

This part is like speed dating but for book worms :) Chat with your neighbor about the book you are currently reading, then chat with more people about their books!

Afterparty: drinks at the nearby bar for the wild party animals (you know who you are!)
