We are thrilled to invite you to one of the fringe events of the first expressive & therapeutic writing festival in Barcelona [November, 8-10th].
This gathering is for everyone, whether you are attending the festival or not. Do not hesitate to invite your friends or come and make some new ones!

LETTERS FROM BARCELONA

Have you ever dreamed of typing away on one of those beautiful old typing machines while sipping on Hemingway's favorite Daquiry? This is your unique chance!

This is what our host Andrew, Barcelona-based writer and owner of 20 old-school typewriters says:

"Letters From Barcelona" is an interactive free-writing experience aiming to extract the juiciest bites of wordy wisdom from within our hearts and minds. Using typewriters is not new, nor is the art of letter writing, but these brilliant machines have unfortunately been pushed aside and forgotten, and letters have long been left unwritten, replaced by cursory texts and emails.

Dusting these beauties off and tuning them up has proven to be the most beneficial thing I´ve ever done for my writing practice, and the joyful impact this exercise has on those who participate, and perhaps even more so on those who are the lucky recipients of letters, is enormous. I am eager to share those advantages with all of you.

The typewriters give us a different approach to mistakes, and the idea of completeness. Each page we create becomes a singular piece of visual art. Try to capture the moment and write without thinking. Just as in life, there is no going back to make corrections, all we can do is improve the future so we focus on the next word, the next phrase or sentence instead of the last.

Join me for a drink at Table Zero cocktail bar and don’t bring any notes with you. Rub a sheet of paper between your forefinger and thumb before you load it into the steel frame of an old Olivetti or Continental. You can choose the one you like. Touch the machine, smell the machine, listen to it smack and ding and hiss and rumble. Have another drink and then
write someone a letter.

The entry fee includes two drinks, light snacks and guaranteed postage of your letter.
