Why earlier? Because apparently the eclipse refuses to adjust its schedule to ours. Extremely inconsiderate.

From Alfons X, expect around 30–40 minutes walking uphill to reach our viewing spot.

And by “walking,” I mean a little hike.

Barcelona is HOT, the sun is still working overtime, and gravity has unfortunately NOT been cancelled for the event.


WHAT TO BRING


Sneakers / comfortable shoes
Please don't arrive dressed like you're going to a rooftop cocktail party. There are rocks, dirt and loose stones, and some sections require extra care.


Food & drinks for a picnic
Bring whatever you want to eat or drink. We are watching an eclipse, not participating in Survivor: Barcelona.


Something to sit on
Blanket, mat, towel, inflatable throne… your choice.
There is NO GRASS up there. Just rocks and dirt providing five-star orthopedic seating.


MOSQUITO REPELLENT
The mosquitoes have already confirmed attendance.
Apparently we're the catering.
If you don't want to become the main course, bring repellent.


FLASHLIGHT / PHONE LIGHT / SOMETHING THAT PRODUCES LIGHT
We'll be coming down after dark. Your phone flashlight is fine. Telepathy is not.


PROPER ECLIPSE GLASSES — VERY IMPORTANT
NEVER look directly at the Sun or the eclipse without proper certified solar-viewing glasses. Regular sunglasses are NOT enough and staring at it can seriously and permanently damage your eyes.

The objective is to watch the eclipse, not to remember it as the last clearly visible thing you ever saw.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

This is NOT a tour, guided excursion, professional hiking activity or commercially organized trip.

It's simply a group of adults independently going together to a high place to watch the solar eclipse and the Perseid meteor shower.

The activity is free, and there is no accident insurance provided by the group/organizer.

The route includes dirt, rocks, uneven terrain and loose stones where you could slip if you're not careful, especially on the way back in the dark.

By joining, you are responsible for assessing your own fitness, footwear, equipment and ability to complete the walk safely, and you participate at your own risk. Please take particular care when both climbing and descending.

Basically:
Your feet. Your decisions. Your gravity.


Nobody can guarantee that accidents won't happen, so please use common sense and look after yourself.


AND PLEASE… BE ON TIME.

We meet at 18:40.

We will wait a maximum of approximately 7 minutes before starting.

At 18:47, the expedition begins.
