Why we Need A Minister for Men: The Moral & Democratic Case - Swayne O'Pie

Detalles
A free public talk followed by an informal pub discussion.
Title: ‘Why we Need A Minister for Men: The Moral & Democratic Case’
by Swayne O’Pie – Author of Why Britain Hates Men.
In 1361, John Wycliffe, Master of Balliol College, Oxford, preached
legendary sermons against the wealth of the church. The Lollardy
inspired by Wycliffe prefigured the Reformation by 150 years.
In 1860, during a vigorous debate at the Oxford University
Museum, Bishop Samuel Wilberforce asked ‘Darwin’s bulldog’, Mr
T.H. Huxley, whether it was through his grandfather or his
grandmother that he claimed an ancestral descent from a monkey.
In 1933, following a talk that was widely discussed and reported
across the Empire, the Oxford Union carried the motion that ‘this
House will in no circumstances fight for its King and Country’.
Mindful of the spirit of this proud tradition, the Oxford Men’s
Group wishes to re-invigorate the ancient custom of public talk
here in Oxford.
You are most cordially invited by the Oxford Men’s Group to attend
this public talk at the Oxford Town Hall on Thursday 11th October,
starting promptly at 7pm.
The subject-matter of this talk – the call for a Minister for Men – is
not a partisan issue. Rather, this is a cross-party issue, of interest
to persons of ALL political persuasions. It need hardly be pointed
out that men & boys are 49% of the UK population.
The talk will last for 50 minutes followed by Q&A. After this everybody is welcome to join us at the nearby Mitre pub for drinks and informal discussion.
