Over the past year or so, I've spoken to hundreds of people at different companies of different sizes, and they all recognise the pattern of burning out in pursuit of "low-hanging fruit" - those things that are quickest and easiest to deliver. In the meantime, harder - if more valuable - work gets deprioritised and delayed. Which begs the question - why? Why are organisations addicted to low-hanging fruit, and what can we do to kick the habit?

I was diagnosed as dyslexic at 16. Until then, I just thought I wasn’t very good at reading. At 25, I was (ironically) given a book that completely changed how I saw it – and helped me recognise the strengths it had given me. At 35, a stranger on the internet suggested I might have ADHD – and they were right. In this talk, I’ll share how I developed coping strategies without even realising it, and how the right (or wrong) environment can completely change how I show up. It’s not about superpowers – it’s about context, self-awareness, and learning to design work around how your brain actually works.
