QArte at Fuga Gallery. Valentina Alvarado Matos: Diaspora, memory, and the resistance of landscape
Join QArte as we explore No terminaba de aorillarse, a compelling exhibition by Valentina Alvarado Matos at Fuga Gallery.
Valentina Alvarado Matos is a Venezuelan artist whose practice, including collage, video, ceramics, and analogue materials, focuses on challenging the epistemological violence of classification and definition—the very logic that underpinned colonial projects. Born in Venezuela and living in Spain, Matos’ work investigates a landscape that continually migrates, contaminated by memory, and questions the rigidity of established structures.
Through her unique methodology of layering, scanning, redrawing, and refilming, Matos explores how our hands and bodies inscribe themselves upon the image and the world, offering a counter-narrative to the linear perspectives of colonial modernity. This is an incredible opportunity to engage with themes of displacement, memory, and resistance against traditional boundaries.
Come connect with fellow queer art lovers as we delve into Matos's thought-provoking work.
