Book club - The perks of being a wallflower
Detalles
Hi everyone,
Whether you first read it under your covers with a flashlight or discovered it through the cult-classic film, Stephen Chbosky’s The Perks of Being a Wallflower remains a quintessential anthem for the outsiders, the dreamers, and the "misfit toys."
Join us for a special session of our Queer Book Club as we revisit the tunnel, the mixtapes, and the messy, beautiful reality of growing up. We’ll be diving into the book’s exploration of identity, trauma, chosen family, and the bittersweet nuances of queer yearning.
Some LGBTQ+ topics that we can discuss:
- The "Patrick" Appreciation Station: Discussing one of the most beloved (and heartbreaking) queer characters in YA literature.
- Chosen Family: How the group creates a sanctuary for those who don't fit the "standard" mold.
- The Power of the Mixtape: The role of art and music in finding your people.
- Wallflower Wisdom: What does it mean to "participate" in life when the world feels like it wasn't built for you?
We will discuss the book, while enjoying some coffee, tea and some sweet or savory treats.
We will meet in the café of the Aconchego.
