Symphony Meetup of St. Louis

The Webster University Community Music School and Department of Music have invited the Symphony Meetup to join them for their Faculty Showcase on Friday, April 17th at 7:00 PM at the CMS Concert Hall, 535 Garden Avenue on campus. Several of Webster faculty members are also members of the St. Louis Symphony, making this a wonderful chance to hear them perform in a more intimate setting — and the event is completely free.

We will have an optional 'dinner' before the concert. Just meet Tony at the BreadCo in historic oldtown Webster about 5:30. Be sure to answer the dinner question with your RSVP.

Webster will be reserving excellent seats for our group to sit together based on your responses here. Please keep your RSVP current. You are welcomed to bring guests to this free event. There will be about 70 minutes of music with no intermission. Webster Community Music School representatives will meet with us in the lobby ... look for Leslie Wobbe, our cohost, when you arrive. They will get us properly situated for the performance.

The WashU Symphony Orchestra and WashU Choirs will unite for a special performance of Franz Joseph Haydn's Mass in Time of War. This piece will take us through the turmoil of conflict and the hope for peace, combining beautiful melodies with thunderous military themes, presented by the WashU Symphony Orchestra, Choirs, and soloists, led by maestro Darwin Aquino.

This spectacular piece will be bookended by a full orchestral program, all in the beautiful 560 Music Center. See details below. We will have a reserved seating area on the center aisle for our members. The music begins promptly at 3:00. Please try to arrive closer to 2:30 to meet at our reserved seats to socialize before the program begins.

This remarkable concert is completely FREE and no tickets are required. There is free parking in the adjacent garage.

The Philharmonic 'travels' to Latin America to receive Darwin Aquino's creative present for our 165th anniversary, performed by the world-renowned Lux Nova Duo. Then, the Philharmonic's anniversary season concludes -- and Darwin completes his role with the orchestra -- with Debussy’s mythical tenderness, explosive tangos, and Shostakovich’s rich, relentless and spectacular symphony.

As members of Symphony Meetup of St Louis we have enjoyed a year-long celebration of the Philharmonic’s 165th anniversary. This milestone showcased the orchestra in its full power, beginning with Mahler’s exciting “Titan” Symphony, followed by Beethoven's 6th Symphony. We smiled with excitement at the holiday concert featured popular pieces that ring in the season with great festive cheer. Recently, we were elated with world class soloist and St. Louis Symphony Assistant Concertmaster, Hannah Ji, joined the orchestras performance of Korngold's Violin Concerto.

Join us, for this 165th Anniversary celebration and Darwin Aquino's finale as Artistic & Music Director at St Louis Philharmonic Orchestra, including his very own composer-conductor showcase, From My Folkloric Imagination.

I play viola in this community orchestra group, and we have welcomed Meetup members at prior concerts for a fun, lively night of music.
