Ingrid Verschuren (SVP of Data Strategy @ Dow Jones)

Ingrid Verschuren is Deputy Head of Professional Information Business and Senior Vice President, Data Strategy at Dow Jones. She is based in Barcelona.
Ms. Verschuren is responsible for continuously developing and growing the Professional Information Business (PIB), while also overseeing all of Dow Jones’ licensed content and proprietary data collections. There are currently four core PIB product sets – Factiva, Newswires, Private Equity and Venture Capital, and Risk and Compliance.
Previously, Ms. Verschuren was the Managing Editor of Dow Jones Risk and Compliance, where she was instrumental in evolving the Risk & Compliance data sets as well as leading the expansion of the global research team. She has also held numerous roles within Factiva, where she focused on global content strategy and operations.
She started her career in the information industry when she joined Reuters as a news indexer in 1998. Ms. Verschuren holds an M.A. in Latin American Languages and Cultures from the University of Leiden in the Netherlands.

I have over 5 years analysing data. Currently, I work as a Project Manager and data anlayst at Netquest, analyzing large data sets, using advanced analytics and standing up big-data analylitical tools, as R, SQL, Hive-QL,.. As my department is part of the global operations team we deliver service to clients worldwide. So, I am used to discuss, define and manage projects for a broad kind of customers.
My carreer developed as data analytics evolved. So, I started it analyzing accounting data in Excel in the Roca's accounting department. After, I joined Planeta's commercial controlling department, where I started using advanced analytical tools, as SQL, Access and Microstrategy. And finally I ended up analyzing big data.
I have also enterpreneurial an international focus, as I founded a student's association (ESN UPF) and I am actively involved in organizing events for StartupGrind Barcelona. Also, I am used to work and live in 4 languages: english, portuguese, spanish and catalan.

Born in 1988 in Barcelona city centre, I studied Mechanical Engineering and started working in an automotive company. Member of Erasmus Student Network for more than 7 years, I was not so bored while being a university student :)
Also Co-Founded my first company in 2014 and became a Startup Grind Barcelona team member 3 years ago, and I'm nowadays mainly focused in managing the operations of TechBuddy in Spain.
