Una desconexión de cinco días para resetear el año y el espíritu, pero no las piernas. Nos adentraremos en la complejidad de la vida rural y su huella en el paisaje: la eterna relación entre el ser humano y la montaña, los antiguos caminos de trashumancia hoy casi olvidados y la gestión de los recursos por unos relieves que parecían infranqueables. Recuerdos de un mundo donde los burros no posaban para Instagram y el polvo de los caminos no era una fragancia exótica. Montaremos el campo base en Arén, la ciudad de los dinosaurios. Hace más de 65 millones de años, los sedimentos que hoy forman estas rocas se depositaron en un delta de lo que fue un gran río de la zona surpirenaica. Y se ve que aquí hubo una de las últimas fiestas dinosaurianas dejando atrás una resaca de la ostia y los yacimientos más modernos del final del Cretácico que se han encontrado en Europa. Se han preservado más de 300 restos de dinosaurios incluyendo huesos, huevos y huellas. Vamos, que si alguien llegó tarde a la extinción, fue aquí. Bastante flipante, ¿no? Descubriremos el pueblo de Sopeira, enclave de una gran belleza paisajística entre paredes de sedimentos calcáreos y el río Noguera Ribagorçana. Realizaremos dos rutas en la Sierra de Sant Gervás, un excelente balcón mirador del Macizo de las Maladetas, que ahora luce su mejor abrigo de nieve. También nos adentraremos en el espectacular macizo prepirenaico del Montsec, un territorio de profundos contrastes y paisajes que no necesitan filtros. Aquí destacan joyas como el desfiladero de Mont-rebei y los afilados dientes de Finestres. Las rocas calcáreas forman un mosaico de intensa verticalidad con un sello de calidad auténtico. Aunque en otras épocas estos lugares reciben bastante público, el invierno nos regala silencio y espacio. Finestres, uno de los pueblos afectados por la despoblación tras la construcción del embalse de Canelles, será otra de nuestras paradas. Su impresionante muralla natural de crestas rocosas verticales es conocida como la Muralla de Finestres o, con cierto orgullo, la Gran Muralla China de Aragón. Donde antes hubo vida y castillos, hoy quedan ruinas, ermitas y senderistas con ganas de aventura. Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing! Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor.
