Anarchoagorismus s Urzou
Anarchoagorismus s Urzou
Podařilo se nám na poslední chvíli sehnat výjimečného hosta – a bylo by škoda to nevyužít! Martin Urza, anarchokapitalista, youtuber a autor první české knihy o anarchokapitalismu, přijede osobně představit svou novou knihu **Anarchoagorismus**. Anarchoagorismus není jen teorie. Je to praktická cesta ke svobodě pomocí prostředků dostupných každému z nás, tady a teď. A samozřejmě – večer zakončíme kvalitním pokecem u piva a v atmosféře bublajících dýmek. Kapacita je omezená, takže neváhejte – kdo přijde, nezklame se!
Literary Reading Group: “The Fall of the House of Usher” by Edgar A. Poe
Literary Reading Group: “The Fall of the House of Usher” by Edgar A. Poe
We will discuss our reactions and interpretations of Poe’s classic 25-page short story, readable online [here](https://www.ibiblio.org/ebooks/Poe/Usher.pdf). Poe is, among other things, often considered the inventor of the detective story and an original voice in the canon of American lit. This story (like many of his) is a romantic-era “gothic” work interested in madness, decay, and the supernatural. I look forward to hearing what you all think!

**SignUps on [LUMA](https://luma.com/wf99go3k) Only** [https://luma.com/wf99go3k](https://luma.com/wf99go3k) Hi PyLadies Berlin! In this members' talks evening held in-person and online, we will have an introduction from our sponsor Blacklane and some very insightful talks 🥳 **💡Erica Wolf - Queer coding** There are different meanings of Queer Coding. I will focus on the meaning grounded in Critical Theory and how Python, specifically, addresses this idea. **Level:** Experience of Python is not required 👩‍💻 Erica Wolf is a transgender woman, who escaped the political Dystopia of the USA in 2023. She has been writing Python for 20+ years and got to go through a painful transition from 2.7 to 3.X (I still always format my PRINT and RETURN statements wrong). She got an MS in Geographical Information Science (Make maps with computers) in the USA Currently, she is a Mentor/Coach for FLINTA people who have found themselves as leaders in Tech Startups. **💡Lisa Johannsen - Crypto Bot** She will introduce my CryptoBot project, which combines real-time data processing, machine learning, and scalable system design. By comparing historical price data with live streaming data, the model predicts price movements and determines whether to buy or hold. **Level:** Intermediate Developer 👩‍💻 Lisa Johannsen is a Diplom Engineer from Berlin working as a Data Engineer. She enjoys building reliable and scalable data systems, while finding the right balance between automation, trust in data, and human expertise. For her, the best data solutions come from combining solid engineering with critical thinking and real-world context. **💡Maya Öykü Gümüs - Navigating Technical Interviews: Lessons From Both Sides** In this talk, I share my journey from being a tech candidate and an interviewer, offering a behind-the-scenes perspective on the hiring process in 2026. Drawing from experiences on both sides of the table, I’ll break down how technical interviews are structured today, what companies are really evaluating, and how expectations have evolved. Attendees will gain practical insights into modern tech hiring trends, common pitfalls, and how to approach interviews with greater clarity and confidence—whether as candidates or future interviewers. **Level:** Experience of Python is not required 👩‍💻 Speaker introduction \*\*[✨](https://emojipedia.org/sparkles/) Blacklane\*\* our wonderful host. *** 📆 Agenda 18h30 Doors open 19h10 Community Announcements 19h20 Welcome from our sponsor 19h30 **Erica Wolf - Queer coding** 19h40 **Lisa Johannsen - Crypto Bot** 20h20 Short break 20h30 **Öykü Gümüs - From Candidate to Interviewer: Understanding Tech Hiring in 2026** 21h00 Networking 21h30 See You Next Time! :D *** ❓ Can men attend ❓ Everyone is welcome. :) If you identify as someone well-represented in open source and in tech, please be mindful of the space and privileges you have, and use it to support others. PyData Prague #34 - Learning from Distillation
PyData Prague #34 - Learning from Distillation
Hello Python enthusiasts and models both large and small, The 34th PyData meetup will take place at **Similarweb offices** (Dock in Five, reception A, 5th floor). As usual, the talks will start at 18:30 but we encourage you to come as soon as **18:00** to enjoy the opportunity to socialize and refresh yourselves (which you can continue doing during the break and after the talks). Our main goal is to build the community around Python and data and make it welcoming to people of various skills and experience levels. ⚡ If you are interested in giving a lightning talk (up to 5 minutes to present an idea, tool or results related at least to some degree to Python and/or data), please contact us before the event or at its beginning. **Why Your Models Fail: Learning from Regime Shifts in Real Data** **([Alena Pavlova](https://www.linkedin.com/in/alena-pavlova-494610207/), Similarweb)** When building predictive models, we often assume that the data-generating process is stable over time. In practice, this assumption is frequently violated and ignoring it can severely degrade model performance. In this talk, we use stock market price data to demonstrate how overlooking market regimes leads to misleading results and fragile trading strategies. We start by implementing a simple strategy under the assumption of a single, stationary regime and show how it fails in changing market conditions. We then introduce a regime-aware approach to infer latent market states. By applying the same strategy only within appropriate regimes, we demonstrate how performance, risk characteristics, and interpretability can change dramatically. The talk focuses on practical Python implementation, intuitive explanations of regime modeling, and concrete lessons that extend beyond finance to any non-stationary time-series problem. Attendees will learn how to detect regime shifts, incorporate them into modeling workflows, and avoid common pitfalls when working with evolving data. **Training Small Language Models with Knowledge Distillation** **([Gabriela Kadlecová](https://www.linkedin.com/in/gabriela-kadlecova/), distil labs)** Large language models (LLMs) have proven useful across a wide range of real-world applications, from code generation and document analysis to intelligent automation and data extraction. However, their practical adoption comes with some tradeoffs: inference costs can be prohibitive at scale, and sending sensitive data to external cloud APIs raises privacy concerns. Sometimes, a general-purpose model is more than what's needed - if the task is quite specific, a smaller, specialized model could do the job just as well. Small Language Models (SLMs) are a great alternative - running entirely on local hardware, they keep data private, respond faster, and operate at a fraction of the cost. The key challenge is making them good enough for the task at hand, and this is where knowledge distillation comes in. By having a large "teacher" model automatically generate and refine training examples, we can create a specialized "student" model tailored to a specific task, starting from as few as a handful of seed examples. In this talk, we walk through the full distillation pipeline: from defining a task and preparing seed data, through synthetic data generation, to fine-tuning an SLM ready for local deployment. We also present benchmark results comparing base and fine-tuned models, and a live demo showing how capable a well-distilled small model can be.

Philosophy Seminar: God of the Philosophers
Philosophy Seminar: God of the Philosophers
This month we bring you a seminar from the host of Prague's famous Cafe Philo, Albert Hoffman, entitled “The God of the Philosophers”. In this seminar, we'll be **exploring the concept of god not through the lens of holy scriptures or divine revelation, but through that of reason.** When philosophers speak of “god,” they are often speaking of something very different from that presented by most religious traditions. In his Metaphysics, **Aristotle** carries out a metaphysical inquiry not with questions concerning the sacred or worship, but with motion, causation, and the structure of reality itself. He arrives at a **conception of god not as a mythic figure ready to reward or punish us, but something more similar to a law of nature.** **Thomas Aquinas** inherits this framework centuries later and deepens it. Drawing on Aristotle's metaphysics, he asks whether contingent beings can account for their own existence, whether causes can regress infinitely, and what it would mean for something to exist necessarily rather than dependently. He presents to us an image of god not merely as first in a sequence, but as the very **ground of being itself**. You don't need any prior knowledge or expertise on these subjects to participate in this discussion, so come and join us as we move through the logic underpinning these conceptions of god and discover whether these arguments still carry any force today! \*\*\* We’ll have tea and light snacks, but please feel free to bring any drink or snack you’d like to share! This event will be hosted in an apartment with a well-trained dog who will be happy to meet you. If anyone has concerns about dogs, let me know so I can be mindful about keeping her from bothering you. The buzzer is Everett and Mainous—we’re on the 5th floor, apartment 16.

13/03 - Breathwork Ceremony: MASCULINE
13/03 - Breathwork Ceremony: MASCULINE
Through guided breathing and music, participants are supported in reconnecting with inner steadiness and allowing recent experiences — personal, emotional, or relational — to land in the body with greater clarity and calm. This session emphasizes nervous system regulation, integration, and a felt sense of orientation before moving forward. The practice is gentle, accessible, and does not require previous breathwork experience. The evening includes a short introduction, approximately 50 minutes of guided breathwork, and a sharing circle with tea afterward. Masculine / Shiva / Yang Ground. Direct. Build. This ceremony is an exploration of the masculine current within us — the part that moves forward, sets boundaries, and creates structure. When distorted, it can easily turn into aggression or rigidity. It is often said that we live in a world largely driven by masculine power. Let’s explore together how the masculine shows up in your life and in your body. This journey is about restoring clean strength. Shaking up rigidity. Gaining inner clarity, stability, and direction. Join **Daclaud** at **The Arcane Foundry** for an evening that introduces newcomers and enthusiasts alike to the timeless craft of **tabletop wargaming** and **miniature painting**. My own journey began with a fascination for fantasy — knights in armor, grim and hardened warriors, and monstrous creatures locked in epic battle. That passion led me to **Dungeons & Dragons**, where I painted my first **Basic Heroes set** and felt the spark that comes from bringing a character to life in miniature form. Not long after, I discovered **Warhammer Fantasy** and **Warhammer 40,000**, and I was hooked. The vision of vast armies clashing across the table — each unit meticulously painted, each story unfolding through dice and imagination — became my creative obsession. During this event, we’ll explore the **origins of wargaming**, from its early military simulations to the richly detailed worlds of modern tabletop battle systems. You’ll learn how to **build and customize your own armies**, paint your first figures, and experience the joy of turning strategy and storytelling into a hands-on art form. Whether you’re drawn by the lore, the hobby, or the thrill of commanding miniature legions, this introduction will open the gates to a world that has captivated hobbyists for generations. **🎨 RSVP today and join us at The Arcane Foundry — where every brushstroke and battle tells a story.**
Humanist Program: Fighting the Efforts to Insert Religion into Public Education
Humanist Program: Fighting the Efforts to Insert Religion into Public Education
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event. Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk. Our March speakers are Molly Gaines and Zack Parrish, co-organizers of the Secular Education Association: They will share their story of how a small group of Ohio parents grew into a national organization tracking released-time religious instruction and other church–state issues in public schools. The presentation will cover SEA’s early wins and hard lessons, what we’re seeing nationally right now, and how local advocates can play a meaningful role in protecting public education. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of the landscape — and practical ways to get involved. Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. March Book Club Meetup
March Book Club Meetup
Welcome, readers! Our March read is **_The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver._** The story follows Taylor Greer, a young woman from rural Kentucky who leaves home for the West, only to find herself unexpectedly becoming the guardian of an abused Native American toddler named Turtle. In Tucson, Arizona, they form a makeshift family with a diverse group of people, including Guatemalan refugees and a single mother, exploring themes of motherhood, community, belonging, and finding hope in hardship. The story blends humor with serious issues, creating a story about finding family in unexpected places. Looking forward to discussing with everyone! We will meet at Zaftig Brewing Co in their event room in the back. We are welcome to bring in our own food, but **drinks must be purchased at the bar.** Happy reading! 📖

You may not know it, but we are! We're in your schools, diners, police force, military, government, and some are even still in your churches! So come and join us and meet other local atheists, along with agnostics, heathens, humanists, skeptics, and anyone else who's 'hell bound'! Vision: a Central Ohio that accepts atheism as a viable alternative in all areas of public and private life. Mission: grow, support, and provide community for atheists in Central Ohio. AoC was founded in 2012 as a networking, social group for Central Ohio area humanists, skeptics, atheists, agnostics, nonbelievers, freethinkers, and the curious. It was a member of Columbus CoR and held weekly meetings, mostly on Fridays, for several years but then operated as an online only group for some time. In November 2018, Omnipresent Atheists (OA), a group that routinely meets on Tuesdays, invited AoC to merge. Omnipresent Atheists is a member of the Columbus Coalition of Reason (ColumbusCoR.org).
