**Copenhagen Language Exchange – Free Monthly Meetup** Join us for Copenhagen’s international language exchange night! 🌍 This is a relaxed, social meetup where locals and internationals come together to practice languages, meet new people, and have great conversations. We meet on the **first Monday of every month from 19:00 to 22:00**. It’s **free to join**, and everyone is welcome — whether you’re a complete beginner or a fluent speaker. ### What to expect * Casual conversations in different languages * Meet people from many countries and cultures * Practice speaking in a friendly, supportive environment * No teachers, no pressure — just real conversations When you arrive, you’ll be welcomed by one of our **Swaplanguage Ambassadors**. You can speak any language you like — English, Danish, Spanish, French, German, or anything else people bring. Come alone or bring a friend — you’ll always find someone to talk to. Join us for a trail run/jog/walk! Note this is Easter Monday, a public holiday in Denmark and therefore we start already at 14:30h We encourage you to wear Easter / Springtime costumes. Feel free to join the silly pack. Only for this special occation there will also be Easter activities. We are not a typical running club, so please read about the concept in “about us”. How it works: we don’t know in advance where the trail will go, but we know it will be fun! A member of the club, the 'hare', sets a trail, usually marked with flour. The rest of us, the 'pack', follows the hare's 'scent', i.e., the marks. There will be a 8-10 km trail for runners with shortcuts down to 5-6 km for walkers and those who need a slower pace. We have no set pace - run/walk as slow or as fast as you'd like. After the run we enjoy some refreshments and socialize. Come a few minutes before the start so that you can say hi and leave your bag in a designated bag car before we set off at 14:30. Don’t worry if there are few registrations on Meetup. We have existed for 44 years, and a lot of our members (anywhere from 20 to 50 people) just show up. Four-legged friends are welcome! We never cancel. See you there!

Seniors with 60+ years of life experience who are community leaders, intellectuals, artists, storytellers, and want to share their experience over dinners for a small group each time. Every Wednesday there is dinner hosted by a different Silver (senior host) who will open their front door, welcome a group of 5-8 people into their home, and share their stories, knowledge, and connections across the table over a themed evening. Each host chooses their own theme and it is the aim to pass on their hard-earned knowledge.

Karen Blincoe PhD, has spent over 30 years working at the highest level of sustainability, education and design. She has pioneered sustainability initiatives such as founding the ICIS Center, and co-founder of Chora 2030 in Denmark, and has been Director of Schumacher College in Devon UK. She published her book: **Achieving Sustainability: The Ultimate Human Challenge in 2022**, and helped shape national agendas. But what stands out is her presence: Clear, generous and brave as ever. Looking back on her life, she says: “Everything I was exposed to in childhood - the stories, the nature, the learning environment - became a foundation for a life of education, culture and sustainability.“ But that life did not unfold in a straight line. Karen always followed her intuition, and that led her to places she could never have planned. An evening of good food, sharp insight, and honest conversation, and new people!

Set in a contemporary art gallery turned into a creative studio for the night, you’ll begin with a delicious cocktail or a glass of wine and even alcohol-free option will be available. Once you test our cocktails you can settle into a candlelit workspace stocked with vintage magazines, colorful papers, fabrics, and other tactile treasures. A collage artist will guide the group through a meditative cut-and-paste flow where you’ll create a visual piece rooted in seasonal themes like winter coziness, Copenhagen memories, or dream landscapes. Whether you come with friends or on your own, this cozy and creative evening will leave you inspired, relaxed, and ready for winter. Ever wondered *why Denmark works the way it does*? You may already live here — but understanding Denmark is something else entirely. On this **2-hour pop-up walking tour**, we go beyond the usual history and sights to explore the ideas, values, and systems that shape Danish society today. This is not a traditional sightseeing tour — it’s a conversation about how Denmark actually functions. We’ll walk through central Copenhagen and use the city as our classroom. Along the way, we’ll talk about topics like: * Why Danes trust each other (and their government) * How the welfare state really works * Why people are willing to pay high taxes * The role of monarchy in a modern democracy * Danish culture, social norms, and everyday life * And yes — what’s going on with Greenland, and our relationship to the United States This tour is designed for **curious, thoughtful people** who want to understand the country they are living in — not just observe it. After the tour you are welcome to join for an informal dinner with the other participants and the guide. The price of the tour is 125 DKK which can be paid on the tour in cash or MobilePay. Your guide is Jens Frahm-Rasmussen who, before becoming a guide, worked 10 years in Human resources in the City hall of Copenhagen, the Ministry of Integration, and Copenhagen University.

The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event. We will be hearing from Becca Powell, Director of Advocacy and Outreach at Unchained At Last, an organization whose mission is dedication to ending forced and child marriage in the United States through direct services and systems change. Unchained At Last's mission clearly meshes and addresses several of our Humanist Ten Commitments. Becca will educate us about an issue many of us may not be familiar with--but should be. We meet to learn and practice American Sign Language and to grow our familiarity with Deaf culture. Facilitated by hearing folks (with a connection to a professional interpreter) using Deaf-created content. People of all ASL skill levels are welcome! As we learn, we hope to connect more with the Deaf community in Central Ohio. Join us as you're able! Come regularly or just once - whatever you're looking for! Each meetup will explore different topics related to ASL/Deaf culture, and will feature time to practice conversation with one another. Just bring yourself and a willingness to learn!
