In this month's tasting we will be exploring wines 'Off the Beaten Track'. **By the way ignore the mention of 'Wine and Food Pairing' and 'Street Wines' in the photo** \- this is the best photo I could find to promote the event\. It will be a 'regular' tasting with the usual food\, but that's as far as 'regular' goes\, as we will be delving into some very unusual wine regions\!\! The tasting will start with 2 bottles of a Cremant de Savoie, a sparkling wine from one of France's lesser known areas. Then there will be 3 whites and 5 reds from a variety of countries featuring Poland, Slovenia, Armenia, China, Morocco, Malta, Turkey and Peru!! So this is your chance to explore the boundaries of the world of wine. Numbers will be limited to 12 people seated round one table, so almost a bottle of fine wine per person. During the tasting a selection of fine cheeses, pates, and other food will be served. **WAITLIST:** If the event is fully booked and you would like to join the ‘waitlist’, post a comment to let me know **REFUNDS:** The 'ticket price' for this event is £35 including £3 for paypal/meetup fees. On Friday 6th February - we're hugely excited to be once again hosting one of our famous karaoke parties.** Yep that’s right, after a number of requests since our last Karaoke night in November, we'll be heading for another special evening of social drinks and great tunes. And for this latest Karaoke adventure, we'll once again be heading to the Old School Yard in London Bridge, so you can sing your heart out with plenty of 20s and 30s. So that you can warm up your singing voice and get to know those you will be singing with later on in the evening a little better, we've booked out a private room at a nearby pub. When we've had chance to have a few drinks and form our own bands, we'll then head across to the Old School Yard to sing the night away. Their karaoke rooms offer a number of microphones and thousands of songs from which to choose, from pop classics, to famous dance anthems. Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing! Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor.
