We pause at the serene WWII Memorial, then continue to the historic town of Aileu for lunch at a scenic vanilla farm. The drive continues through rolling green hills and coffee plantations until we reach charming Maubisse. In the evening a traditional welcome ceremony awaits, complete with warm local hospitality. **DAY 3: MT. RAMELAU** Early wake-up, and depart to the trailhead of Mount Ramelau (2,963 m), Timor-Leste’s highest peak. The steady 2 hr ascent brings us to the summit in time for a spectacular sunrise. Cheer up the sunrise with few selfies, descent and reaching the base by mid morning. Return to the guesthouse for breakfast and a quick refresh, then drive back toward Dili with a refreshing stop at Dokomali Falls – a hidden gem where clear mountain water cascades into a natural pool surrounded by lush jungle, perfect for a cool swim, and a light picnic before continuing to the capital. Overnight in Dili. **DAY 4: ATAURO** Morning transfer to the port and a scenic ride to Atauro Island. After settling in, we spend the day snorkelling over vibrant coral reefs and exploring the laid-back main village. The Ronald McDonald House (RMH) provides housing and meals for families with sick children. The Columbus RMH is the largest in the world with 137 rooms. COUNT has been volunteering there since May 2014. Housewarmers work with RMH guests to provide a home-like environment - greet, assist with family needs, answer phones, give tours, assist with checkin/checkout, prepare guest rooms after checkout, clean facility, laundry, restock supplies and staff the front desk. RMH Housewarmers volunteer at least one four-hour shift a month. All Housewarmers must complete an application and agree to a background check before they can be full fledged volunteers.
