Meet the GRAPA / street art from Brazil & textile art from Fiji / Guided Visit
# GRAPA: Gallery for Rebel Artists & Political Art
Join Alexey for a guided visit to GRAPA's current exhibition spanning the world from Brazilian street art to indigenous crafts of Fiji.
Diogo Rustoff is a Brazilian street artist working with collage(s)
Meet Diogo
INFO: Across stark desert landscapes, curious beings emerge: a harpy eagle reclaiming what was taken, an artisan defending their craft, a photographer confronting the fragility of memory. Rooted in dystopia yet grounded in our present, this body of work asks what survives when the familiar disappears. “When fiction and dystopia cross the border and become reality, a new way of thinking and navigating the world becomes necessary.”
Mela Lutuvakula is a textile artist from Fiji redefining traditions
Meet Mela
INFO: Crudo ¨raw¨ is an entirely ecological art collection inspired by the Indigenous tradition of masi, each piece is made entirely from natural materials: a barkcloth crafted from the mulberry tree, pigments derived from plants, and smoke used to shape and mark the surface. These ancestral techniques carry generations of cultural knowledge, yet today they face increasing threats as climate change endangers both the communities who practice them and the environments that make them possible. Lutuvakula’s collection stands as both an artistic testament and an urgent call to protect vulnerable cultural traditions.
