Scarlett / Shady Hollow Trails - Intermediate Hike
Detalles
Join the Sundays at 10 Hiking Series in cooler ground as we take on the Scatlett and Shady Hollow Trails. The trailhead is across the street from the Visitor Center.
This hike starts at an elevation of 6000' making it at least 10° cooler. The hike is approximately 4.3 miles with a total elevation gain of over 800'.
Scarlett / Shady Hollow Trails: We will start our hike following the Scarlett Trail, gaining almost 700' elevation in the first 2 miles. All of the work pays off as we drop down into the canyon, following the Shady Hollow Trail - where yes, there is plenty of shade!
Terrain & Scenery: This is a typical hiking trail with dirt and loose gravel. We will be hiking through the trees with amazing views of the Spring Mountains. The first half of the hike is mostly in the sun with patches of shade.
Trail Type: Lollipop Loop
Parking: There is a large parking lot that is paved/unpaved. The trailhead starts at the unpaved end. There are vault restrooms available. You are welcome to set up carpools.
Directions: When you get to the circle, take the first right. If you put "2414 Mt. Charleston Scenic Byway" in your navi, it will get you on the right road. Follow that road to the parking lot. I will be standing next to my silver Honda Civic close to the trailhead.
This is a group hike and will be at a pace that encourages socializing, taking pictures, and enjoying the beautiful landscape. The elevation gain in the beginning will be challenging for some (me) but we will stop as often as we need to.
*Guests must be 21. No fur babies.
