About PRS for Music
PRS for Music is a UK organisation that represents songwriters, composers, and music publishers. Its primary role is to collect and distribute royalties when music is performed in public.

This includes music played on the radio, TV, streaming services, live concerts, venues, shops, and online platforms. PRS ensures that the people who write and compose the music are fairly paid whenever their work is used.

By licensing music to businesses and organisations, PRS collects these fees and pays the royalties directly to its members, helping creators earn income from their songs.

This introduction to PPL will explain the role of neighbouring rights and how performers and recording rightsholders get paid when their recordings are broadcast or played in public.
