Accountability Groups - A Superpower for Achieving What's Important to YOU
Detalles
This activity might be for you if you'd like to achieve more of your goals without having to learn new tricks, explore your blocks or powering through difficulties.
Accountability groups take advantage of innate human hardwiring that has
us respond to social triggers that are almost impossible to resist. In other words, accountability groups leverage our social natures for our advantage.
In this session we will learn a little more about accountability, we'll talk about goal setting and we'll share a specific goal (or goals).
The power of accountability is in the practice of it. It's less about learning and more about practicing. At noon you'll have the opportunity to participate in our weekly accountability group. In that session, from noon to 13:00 each person shares what they said they'd do in the previous accountability session, what they actually did, and what they will complete by the coming week. For you as a new participant, you'd say what you commit to completing by the coming Saturday.
This format sets up powerful and invisible motivational forces that power us to achieve those goals.
What to Bring: A curious mind, any questions, an idea of what you'd like to achieve by the following week, and courage to speak it in front of others. We usually take time to refine goals to be specific, measurable, actionable, and meaningful (to you).
What: You will have the opportunity to learn about what an accountability group is, how it benefits participants, and you will have the chance to try it out. We'll spend about 20 min talking about what these groups are, ask/answer questions, discuss the structure of an efficient session and do a test run. To experience the full benefit, you need to commit to checking in with the group the following week online (we meet in person every other week). We do have time at the end to request ideas, contacts or anything else you might need.
What it isn't: No fixing, rescuing or offering unsolicited advice
Who this is for: This is for you if you'd like to accomplish more and more easily.
Time: arrive at 10:55, start at 11:00. If your expected arrival time is more than 10 minutes past the start time, please plan to come a different day. This session is offered about once a month.
Cost: buy something at the cafe or leave a tip. Nothing is being sold, and there's no hidden agenda, participation going forward is optional.
LOCATION for those who have RSVPd only: Restaurante terraza El Paseo, C. Sagunto, 3, 35010
To receive messages from me for LOCATION or other changes, be sure the setting for that is enabled (OR you can send me a message on this platform with your what's app number and I can send it there). Go to your account's Settings in Profile, find Push Notifications or Email Updates and make sure "Messages- Email me when someone sends me a message" is on. You can turn any of the other ones on or off
Interesting but Unessential information:
Popular authors like James Clear (Atomic Habits), Stephen Covey (The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People), and William James recommend accountabilities: Clear focuses on the power of outside motivation, Covey popularized the concept of an accountability partner, and James highlighted the strength of a public pledge for motivation.
