Two American Operas from Carlisle Floyd
Canyon High School, 19300 Nadal St, Santa Clarita, CA, USCarlisle Floyd wrote operas featuring the lives of common religious people. Mission opera is performing two: a tragedy and a comedy for $38-link Slow Dusk set in the sandhills of the Carolinas Sadie and Micah plan to marry, against the wishes of Sadie’s family who oppose the relationship because the families different religious sects. Despite their poor land prospects, they dream of building a future together.
THE SOJOURNER AND MOLLIE SINCLAIR Dougald finds it difficult to let go of his Scottish heritage and set aside his loyalty to his homeland. Living in America brings many new challenges and customs, including a march against King George's stamp act.
