🧠 Guided English Practice - Online, Only for Serious Learners
Detalles
I've tried the online language exchanges.
Twenty people in a call, three of them talking, everyone else a black square pretending their microphone is broken. Or a Discord server where you're supposed to "just jump in" with strangers and nobody ever does. Forty-five minutes in, I'd said maybe nine sentences.
I didn't need another call. I needed to actually get better in the language.
So I built the format I wanted 👉:
- No big room. You're never in a group of twenty. You're in a breakout room with one person, and that's it.
- Only one language: English. You sign up with your language and your level. Everyone around you is learning the same thing.
- In pairs. New partner, new energy. No closed groups, nobody drifting off. You talk for the full hour.
- Materials and setup. Prompts and materials are provided for the speaking parts. For the writing part we provide a free mobile app that supports your practice - downloading it is completely optional and you can attend without it.
- You leave with your cheatsheets. During the session you'll use tools that correct what you couldn't say, so you can review it afterwards. You finish with a written record of a real practice session you can actually read back and learn from.
Why online is better for the writing part: in person, typing on your phone is awkward.
Here you've got a keyboard and both hands. This is where most of the real correction happens.
This is not a social call. It's for people who are serious about learning and tired of talking into the void. If you're here to learn, you'll fit right in - if you're not, this probably isn't for you.
Warning ⚠️:
- Cameras on. This is conversation practice. You can't practise talking to a black rectangle, and neither can your partner
- Use headphones: without them the echo makes pair work painful for whoever you're talking to
- Intro and setup can take about 10 minutes: so expect a full hour of actual practice after that.
- Please only RSVP if you'll come
Logistics 🗺️:
- Zoom - link goes out to confirmed attendees one hour before we start
- Join from a laptop if you can. Phone works for speaking, but you'll want a keyboard for the writing section
- Somewhere reasonably quiet, so your partner can hear you
At the end of the event, there will be a promotion of the app we're building. Optional for those that are interested.
