*Walktober continues this fall, bringing together community, nature, and the joy of walking. Each week in October, we host guided walks across Metro Vancouver that highlight unique stories, landscapes, and the importance of sustainable mobility. These walks are open to everyone and are a great way to connect with others while exploring the outdoors and new neighbourhoods.*

**Our fourth and final Walktober walk, Reclaim Space: Hogan’s Alley Society x BEST, invites you to step through time and explore the heart and history of Vancouver’s first Black Community.**
Hogan’s Alley was the unofficial name for a T-shaped intersection at the southwestern edge of Vancouver’s Strathcona neighbourhood. In the early 1900s, it became the centre of the city’s first concentrated Black community.

This guided walking tour led by Hogan’s Alley Society, brings this history to life. Participants learn about former residents such as Nora Hendrix and Vie Moore, visit significant sites in Hogan’s Alley and the broader Strathcona neighbourhood, and gain insight into what life was like in this vibrant community. The walk will also highlight the work Hogan’s Alley Society is doing today—including the community land trust being developed on the historic Hogan’s Alley Block—and how this legacy continues to shape Vancouver’s Black community. **Learn more about Hogan’s Alley Society and their work [here.](https://www.hogansalleysociety.org/)**

**Join us Oct 25 at 12 PM for the 1.5 KM guided walking tour (approx. 60-90 mins). This walk is NOT a loop.**
