This adventure looks amazing! Arrive 1pm on Friday at the Madawaska Country Store. We will meet our guide there. This will be a small group tour of up to 8 people but if we get more than 8 we will split into 2 groups. The park only allows 9 people per camp site. You will pack light for this - clothes, back pack, flashlight, sleeping bag and whatever else they tell us to bring. We will canoe (2 or 3 people to a canoe) into the park. They will teach us everything. We will portage (carry) the canoes and gear about 100 yards over land to get to the next lake. The gear will be in the canoes so some physical effort will be needed. The usual canoes have a weight requirement of 225lbs per person but they have some heavier duty canoes for those over this weight limit (please specify when booking if you will need this type of canoe). We will canoe to our camp site and set up the tents that they provide. They provide all meals cooked over campfire. We will hope to see a variety of wildlife including moose! On Saturday there are a variety of options as far as canoe/hike/swim adventures. Saturday night we return to the campsite and hope for clear skies so we can see comets and the Milky Way! Sunday morning we canoe back to the starting point.
You can read more about the tour company at callofthewild.ca
They have a packing list on their website.
This company appears to be the best for tours there. They have commercial liability insurance. They use lightweight kevlar canoes. Their guides have wilderness first aid training. They have been professionally guiding wilderness canoe trips for over 30 years. They provide everyone with an inflatable sleeping pad for in the tent. And they have great reviews.
Cost is $493 US per person which is a deal compared to their normal prices. There was a glitch in the viator app that temporarily gave a lower price that they were unaware of but are willing to honor, This includes all fees except parking fee.

Include your weight if over 225lb.
If you are interested in staying over in Algonquin the night before the event, they have an econolodge that is $160 US per night and includes food. Tax is extra. Let them know this in the email as well.
I’m thinking I may drive halfway Thursday night and stay over and then the rest of the way on Friday morning if anyone’s interested in that option.
Really excited about this one!
