Recent rapid advances in coding sophisticated computer programs with increasing agentic power by words alone instead of long sequences of computer language instructions have accelerated fears of rapid massive unemployment of people with a wide range of currently in demand white collar skills. While such advances are likely to create huge rapid advances in science, medicine, & general productivity, history an does not auger well for society’s proclivity to rapidly mitigate the huge disruptions caused by such advances in the past, nor to spread the benefits to the population in general, and these changes are coming far faster now than in previous industrial revolutions.
