Postponed to June 6th, join the Empire Skate Club as we celebrate the start of skating season with a skate to Coney Island capped off with a bon fire on the beach.
We'll be meeting at Skaters Circle in Central Park at 5pm and rolling at 6pm. Expect anywhere from 15 to 25 miles of skating depending on how we are doing on timing. Once we get to Coney Island we're gonna set up a bonfire on the beach for chill hangs into the night.
You may want to have a change of shoes, a beach blanket, and maybe a hoodie on hand.
The skate will go over a bridge and will have a number of hills. Get in touch if you want to join us mid route or just for the bon fire at the end.

Additional meetup opportunities will need to be discussed in real time the day of the event depending on the route we end up taking.

Meet on Randall's Island at bus stop "Main Roadway/Icahn Stadium."

How to get there: Take the 6 train to 125th St stop. Walk to M35 bus stop at Lexington Avenue and 125th St. (right by the subway). Take M35 bus to "Main Roadway/Icahn Stadium" stop (5 stops).

Note: This is a beginner event but not an absolute beginner event. You should at least be able to stand on skates, move from one place to another, and brake (not T-stop necessarily, but at least plow stop). If you cannot do these things, please do not attend. If you do, you will be endangering not only yourself but also those around you. We will be going slow on inclines/in general.

Starting to rollerblade on the street amongst the cars can be intimidating. Some have found Wednesday Night Skate to be appealing but are not yet ready for those speeds. This will be a slow-paced 3-mile 4-5 mph skate from Pier 76 to Skater's Circle in Central Park for those who don't have experience skating in the street. We will not be returning to the pier as a group.

Part 1: 15 miles mostly on trails connecting 5
beautiful parks, will end around 2:30pm

Part 2: 11 miles optional additional on streets
from 2:30 to 4:15pm for more advanced skaters

After: several food options less than a mile away

Leaves 9:48 to Saddle River Rd @ Rt 80 Ramp
Arrives at 10:27 then 2-minute skate to Park
