3 Years of Quarkus in Production, What Have We Learned?
by Jago de Vreede
Quarkus has grown in popularity in recent years—but what’s it really like to use it in large-scale, real-world business projects? In this session, we move beyond "Hello World" and explore how to build and maintain enterprise-level applications with Quarkus efficiently.
We’ll look at setting up a multi-module project, integrating testing strategies, and tackling challenges like build times while maintaining a high development velocity. We’ll also walk through an upgrade scenario and the transition toward a microservices architecture.
Along the way, Jago will share hard-earned lessons from real-world experience—including what to avoid. After this talk, you’ll have a solid understanding of how to approach large-scale Quarkus projects with confidence.

JavaScript? No. Java Scripts! – Scripting with Java
by Jens Knipper
Scripting has long been dominated by languages like Python, Bash, and JavaScript—but modern Java is quietly becoming a powerful alternative.
In this talk, we’ll explore how recent Java features—such as shebang support, compact source files, and instance main methods—enable a more lightweight and interactive style of development. Combined with records and text blocks, Java becomes surprisingly effective for scripting and automation.
We’ll also dive into tools like JBang to handle dependencies and streamline more advanced scripts. Through live demos, Jens will show how you can quickly prototype, automate tasks, and write scripts that remain robust and maintainable.
By the end of the session, you’ll see Java in a whole new light: not just as an enterprise language, but as a modern and practical scripting tool.
