Description:
Power Query is the easiest method to connect to hundreds of data sources with predefined connectors, to transform, reshape and combine data using the over 300 types of transformations available only using the graphical interface without writing any kind of formula and everything with an easy to use, captivating experience, without code. Power Query has two main purposes. First, you can use Power Query to access and bring data to Excel/Power BI from external data sources. These sources can be relatively simple, such as other Excel files, text files, CSV and Access databases. However, these sources can also be much more substantial, such as SQL Server databases, Oracle databases, and cloud-based data. The second main purpose of Power Query is to apply transformations to your data to make it more useful. These transformations can include simple tasks such as splitting, combining columns, or applying filters. In addition, these transformations can be more sophisticated, such as un-pivoting or combining data from multiple data sources.
Most importantly, no matter what transformations you create with Power Query, each transformation is performed automatically whenever you refresh a query. Thus, you must create a transformation only once, and Excel/Power BI will automatically execute it each time you refresh the query that contains the transformation.
In this session Chandeep will walk us beyond the User Interface and show us some tips & tricks to better leverage Power Query
