Featured Game - The Game Makers
Detalles
Featured games are our way of teaching new games and highlighting something we think our players may enjoy or take note of. We'll explain from scratch how to play the game with a detailed description and demonstrate a few turns, then break into tables to actually play it. Each week it'll be something new, but will run the spectrum of different lengths, complexities, themes, and game mechanics. So if this week's game doesn't interest you, feel free to look again next time around!
The Game Makers is a game about making and manufacturing games. Not just any games, but other games we've played before! It's also a game combining a few different game mechanics, including engine building, set collection, and worker placement. Each round, you'll move your forklifts around the board in order to collect resources. These resources can be used as components for the games you have a contract to make, but each one also has another use to make your factory more efficient - cards double as game contracts, meeples can become workers to assign to different spaces on your personal board, tiles allow you to complete an assembly line for cheaper components, and so on. Score the most points by publishing games - ideally, in a green environment!
The Game Makers is a game for up to 4 players and should take experienced players about 1 to 1&1/2 hours to play. It has a weight of 2.90 according to BoardGameGeek, making it a medium complexity game compared to games typically played here.

Watch a video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjFPxG7fJsw (Please note that this game is available on BGA, but not in print yet, so I can't find a video using actual table components yet - if anyone else knows of one, drop the link here.)
If this is your first time with this group, you should see a link to our Discord group once you've signed up for this event. You may join any time before the event begins to get to know people, but once this event starts, we'll typically join the Lobby voice chat, then move to another voice chat once we've gotten started. Note that I, as the game teacher, will share my screen to show how the game works, but all other interaction will be voice only, no video, so no need to look presentable first. The game itself will be played using Board Game Arena - please create an account on this site beforehand.
