The topic of this meeting is:
Architecture & Philosophies:
Part 3: Phenomenology in Architecture: Architecture as Experience
Phenomenology emerged in the 1970s-1980s, when postmodernism opened the door to questioning everything. Phenomenology focuses on how people experience buildings through their senses and body, how a space makes you feel, how light moves through it, and how materials touch your skin. Rather than judging architecture by how it looks or functions, it asks: What is the lived experience of being in this space?
Does a building or a space need to be "beautiful" to be a good experience, or can an ugly building / space feel amazing if the light, materials, and proportions are right?
