For our first event, we're reading A Hymn to Life: Shame Has to Change Sides by Gisèle Pelicot. We picked it as our first book because it's a story that's been on everyone's mind this year, and few books open up such a rich, honest conversation right from the start.

How it works
Read the book beforehand, at your own pace, in whatever format works for you. We meet up, order a drink or coffee, and talk about what stood out, what surprised us, and what it brought up for us personally. No pressure to have finished it or to have deep literary insights ready; showing up and being curious is enough.

About the event
A book club for readers who want the discussion to go past "did you like it."
We pick a book each month, meet to talk about it over drinks or coffee, and inevitably end up talking about everything else too. All genres get a turn eventually, whatever sparks a good conversation.

Our community
This event runs under the Childfree and Single Network, so yes, our group name kinda says "ladies." But this book club is LGBTQ+ friendly through and through, and that very much includes gay, bi, and trans people. If you love books and good conversation, the group name shouldn't be what keeps you out.
