I WRITE @ Iska Café – A Cozy Silent Writing Club
Welcome to **I WRITE**, a gentle space for anyone who wants to write—quietly, freely, and without judgement.
We are a Berlin community of writers who gather together weekly to write, talk and recharge after a long week. Some of us journal, some write novels, some do academic writing, many people come without a project in mind and see where the inspiration flow takes them. This is a space to simply show up and write, a safe place to be yourself and to release all your layers onto the paper.
There’s no set topic, no feedback circle, and no pressure. Just warm people, a calm atmosphere, and time dedicated to yourself.
🗓️ **Agenda:**
* 18:30 - 19:00 **→** 30 min arriving, optional socialising (arrive early, meet other writers)
* 19:00 - 20:00 **→** 1 hour of silent writing (headphones welcome, focus encouraged)
* 20:00–20:30 **→** 30 mins optional chat or solo time (stay and chat or go celebrate the rest of your evening)
🎒 **Bring:**
* Something to write with (laptop, notebook, phone, typewriter… anything goes)
* Your current project or a blank page
* Yourself, exactly as you are
**👉 Responsibility:**

**About me:**
Hi, my name is Anastasia. I started this writing club back in May 2025. Since then, it has been hosted weekly at the Heinrich Schulz Library and is now extended to the Café as well. Over this time, I’ve been privileged to meet some of the most creative and kind minds in Berlin. And I would be happy if you joined us. Whether you're an experienced writer or just at the beginning of your journey, you're welcome. If you know how to hold a pen or how to type, there will always be a space for you.
Let's write together!

Hey everyone, we’re offering a small felting workshop where you can create your own felted pets!
We’ll bring all the materials, so you don’t have to worry about a thing. Just sign up and bring your motivation to felt your very own little animal.
The workshop will take place in a café, so there will also be coffee, tea, and delicious cake available.
Please keep in mind that this workshop is not about perfection, but mainly about having fun! Not every little animal will win a beauty contest, but from our experience, they usually turn out really cute and all the more special because of it.
We would be happy about a small donation of 5-10€ for the materials and organization.

What is Spiritual Community? (Breakfast edition)
This is the "Breakfast edition" of our events. **Please RSVP reliably latest until Saturday as we have a reservation of a certain number of seats this time...**
***What is Spiritual community?***
*"[W]hat often happens between trying to apply the basics of technical meditation [...] and successful entry into real meditation territory [...] is that we run into the mainstream culture of contemporary meditation scenes and the communities that develop around them. We need support, friends who are into what we are into, good teachers, and places to practice. We wish to be in the company of fellow adventurers rather than be lone wanderers in strange lands. The Buddhist term for this is that we want sangha, a community of like-minded people. Unfortunately, much of what we find is not particularly conducive to healthy adventure and deep exploration at all."* (Daniel Ingram)
**Let's meet for a breakfast and share about the Spiritual Journey and Spiritual Community on a casual Sunday morning.**

"*[I live] in a world of realities, while yours is of imaginings. Your world is personal, private, unshareable, intimately your own. Nobody can enter it, see as you see, hear as you hear, feel your emotions and think your thoughts. ln your world you are truly alone, enclosed in your ever-changing dream, which you take for life. My world is an open world, common to all, accessible to all. In my world there is community, insight, love, real quality; the individual is the total, the totality — in the individual. AII are one and th*e *One is all.*" (Nisargadatta Maharaj

Mental Health Discussion Circle
Life gets heavy sometimes — and we believe no one should carry that weight alone.
This discussion circle is a supportive space where we gather to speak openly about our struggles, mental health journeys, and personal challenges — without fear of judgment. Whether you’re facing anxiety, burnout, grief, or just feeling lost, this is a time for real talk, real people, and real healing.
We’re not therapists or professionals — we’re humans navigating life, just like you. What we offer is empathy and understanding.
What to expect:
• Respectful conversations
• Listening without pressure to fix
• Optional prompts to get things flowing
• A calm, welcoming environment
Come as you are. You don’t need to have it all figured out.
The event takes place every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month and is donation based.
If possible, please consider helping us cover the location and Meetup expenses with a small contribution. :)

Kreative Schreibwerkstatt in Charlottenburg (14:30 Uhr!)
**Was dich erwartet:**

Choose Your Movie: THE SHEEP DETECTIVES vs HOKUM at Cinemark Stoneridge!
Join us as we get together to see your choice of two VERY different movies – one sweet and wholesome – the other a terrifying folklore horror! Option 1 is the fun whodunnit-action-comedy-mystery led by Hugh Jackman, THE SHEEP DETECTIVES! Option 2 is the top-reviewed supernatural-horror-thriller starring Adam Scott, HOKUM! Here’s a description, trailer and plan for this event:
THE SHEEP DETECTIVES: Every night a shepherd reads aloud a murder mystery, pretending his sheep can understand. When he is found dead, the sheep realize at once that it was a murder and think they know everything about how to go about solving it. The film is directed by Kyle Balda and take a look at this ensemble cast: Hugh Jackman, Nicholas Braun, Molly Gordon, Hong Chau and Emma Thompson and the voices of Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston, Chris O'Dowd, Regina Hall, Patrick Stewart, Bella Ramsey, Brett Goldstein and Rhys Darby. TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyZI5oM6hWk
HOKUM: In this film, a horror writer visits an Irish inn to scatter his parents' ashes, unaware the property is said to be haunted by a witch. It is written/directed by Damian McCarthy stars Adam Scott, Peter Coonan, David Wilmot, Florence Ordesh and Austin Amelio. Hokum premiered to rave reviews at this year’s SXSW Festival and is being release by Neon. It is earning a stellar 97% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which calls it, “A classic haunted house story enriched with atmospheric folklore and perfectly-timed shocks!” TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVCIK_MPyhc
PLAN: We’ll plan for a 7pm-ish showing of both films and will meet inside the theater lobby about 20 minutes before showtime. If the showtimes work out, we’ll try to get both groups together for a bite before the shows! Complete details and showtime will be confirmed/announced as the date gets closer.
Look forward to seeing you there, Dan

Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for May is "Ink"
Speak Easy: true stories, told live.
The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast.
Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect.
The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!

"Under the Oak Tree" by Suji Kim
Join us for lunch/tea at Asterisk Supper Club to discuss our May book "Under the Oak Tree" by Suji Kim
Lady Maximilian is the daughter of the powerful Duke Croyso, but she is rarely allowed outside her family’s sprawling castle for fear that her stutter will tarnish their noble name. When she is forced to marry Sir Riftan, a lowborn knight caught in one of her father’s schemes, Maxi doesn’t dare hope for happiness, let alone love. Her stumbling communication and his gruff manner sour their relationship before it can begin, and Riftan leaves without a word the morning after their vows are exchanged.
Now, three years after their disastrous wedding night, Riftan has returned as a war hero. To Maxi’s surprise, despite rumors that he was offered marriage to Princess Agnes, a beautiful and renowned sorceress, Riftan still wants Maxi for his wife. And when he comes to claim her, his longing becomes a desire that bewilders Maxi, even as she is overcome by the scorching heat that Riftan’s presence ignites within her. As she learns to navigate the intricacies of her new life, Maxi will find herself and her courage, and discover that she is anything but powerless.
