Welcome to the first meeting of the 20th Century World Literature Book Club Zurich! For our first book, we’ll be reading *Chronicle of a Death Foretold*, a short, gripping, and beautifully written novel by Colombian author and Nobel Prize winner Gabriel García Márquez. First published in 1981, it tells the story of a killing that everyone knows is coming, yet somehow no one stops. We’ll meet in English for a friendly, open discussion. No academic background is needed — just read the book, bring your thoughts, and join the conversation. This first book has been chosen by the organizer to get the club started. Brazilian percussionist **Gabriel Lopes** returns to Zürich for a special weekend of samba with Zurich School of Samba. The weekend opens with a **Pagode / Roda de Samba workshop** on Friday evening, followed by two days of **Samba Enredo workshops** on Saturday and Sunday. Participants will explore the musical language of **Rio de Janeiro samba schools**, playing together in a full bateria and developing groove, listening and ensemble balance.
